The Gainesville City Schools International Center was established in the summer of 1997 for the purpose of serving as a central intake center for all incoming GCSS second language students. This includes the orientation, registration, assessment, placement, (& high school advisement) for each student and their family. Some of the IC’s other duties are the evaluation of all foreign transcripts, serving as a clearinghouse for available community resources, holding and/or facilitating parent information meetings w/ native language moderators, helping to distribute and translate selected school notices & documents, conducting staff development, and various other duties i.e., tutoring, SST support, and school consultation as needed.

The International Center is located next to Fair Street Elementary School.
Registration hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
