The second objective is to better prepare Brenau students to become good teachers by experiencing the true classroom environment. And, the third objective is to have both faculties learn from each other. "This is a special relationship and arrangement, but we will continue to place student teachers in other city and county schools," Ware said. This semester there are three Brenau University education classes on site at Fair Street in which approximately 25 students are enrolled. "Students have told us that they want more actual classroom experience prior to their student teaching," Ware said. "This will give them that additional exposure that is so important." Merrianne Dyer, principal at Fair Street, says her school will benefit from the partnership in many ways. "Primarily it will give our teachers extra support in serving our students," she said. Dyer feels the program also will give current teachers an insight into new trends and concepts being taught in colleges. "It will support and nurture new teachers in the field by preparing future teachers for all facets of school life. This is an excellent opportunity for the Brenau women to work with all kinds of students."
