Ballowe: SAT scores don't
tell whole story
By Jerry Gunn
GAINESVILLE - At a breakfast
program on the Gainesville School Foundation Wednesday, School
Superintendent Dr. Steve Ballowe said Georgia's low SAT scores do not
reflect how all students are learning.
Ballowe said it is simply because not all students are going to college
and the SAT is a college entrance test.
Technical school students who successfully learn a trade don't get an
SAT score.
Ballowe said the test results are an academic measure that get too much
publicity while trade and career students don't get enough.
State School Superintendent Linda Schrenko released statewide SAT
results Tuesday which show Georgia now 50th in the country.
Results for the Gainesville and Hall County school systems are not
available.
