Georgia School
Boards Association has recommended that Gainesville City Schools apply
for inclusion in a National School Boards Association publication.
Superintendent Steven Ballowe received a letter from the national
group this week asking the system to apply for a profile spot in the
publication, which will focus on "continuous improvement practices."
"It is an honor that GSBA recommends (a system)," Ballowe told the
City Board of Education during a meeting Thursday.
To be eligible for consideration, the school system must submit
information to the association by April 30.
Since arriving as Gainesville's superintendent in 2001, Ballowe has
implemented many changes, including programs of choice at the middle
and elementary schools.
