The Board of Education represents the owners of the Gainesville City Schools - all citizens of the district. To this end, the Board has approved expectations, as well as the means to achieve these results. Annual operational plans are being developed to meet each of the goals. Indicators/annual results will be the means of measuring our progress.
As a result of the Gainesville City Schools efforts, the board will hold the Superintendent accountable along with the Leadership Teams and Measure Performance utilizing the following goals.
Evidence of Success Toward Goals: 2003-2004 School Year
GOAL 1: Educate all children in Gainesville City to be successful students.
o Objective 1: Emphasize individual student achievement in reading (K-8) and mathematics (K-8) through increases in test results. (5.0) (Assigned: Gilliam, Carney, Hudgins) 1. To be evaluated at the national level by the ITBS in grades 3 & 5 The ITBS was administered in October 2003 (G.E. of 3.2 and 5.2), using Fall 2003 norms. The results are as follows:
2. To be evaluated at the state level by the GKAP-R in kindergarten and the CRCT in grades 1-8. The GKAP-R was administered in the fall of 2003. The overall readiness average of Centennial’s kindergarteners was 137. The readiness score for kindergarten is actually 140. In August of 2003, Centennial had 56% of its students ready for kindergarten and 44% needing assistance in kindergarten.
