EastHall High School- Go Jesse Jewel Parkway .  Go under I-985.  Road changes into Old Cornelia Highway .  School will be approximately 2 miles on your right
East Hall Middle School:  Go Jesse Jewel Parkway.  Go under I-985.  Road changes into Old Cornelia Highway.  Go through Rabbittown.  At the next traffic signal, turn right on Joe Chandler Road.  Go to first stop sign at East Hall Road.  Turn right.  School will be on your right.  4120 East Hall Road.
Lanier High School-  Go 985 S. to exit 4.  Turn right on Highway 20.  Go 1.3 miles.  Turn left on Buford Hwy. US 23.  Go 1.4 miles. 918 Buford Highway, Sugar Hill, GA will be on your right.
Monroe-Area: Go 985 S. to Exit 16.  Turn left onto Winder Highway (Ga. 53).  Go 4.3 miles.  Turn right onto Old Winder Highway (GA-211).  Go 14.2 miles and turn right onto Horton St.  Then turn left onto W. Mat St. (US-29 GA-8.  Go 1.5 miles and turn slight right onto GA 11/Winder-Monroe Highway.  Go 11.9 miles and Turn right onto Double Springs Church Road, SW.  Go .8 miles.  School is at 300 Double Springs Church Road, SW., Monroe, GA.
Oconee County High School-Go 985 S. to Exit 16.  Go left on Winder Highway (Hwy. 53). Go east on Hwy 53 through Winder.  Past Winder, take a right at the golf course.  Go approximately 20 miles from Winder. You will cross over Hwy. 316. The High School is on the right (this is still Hwy 53) about 12 miles after you cross Hwy. 316
White Co. High School-Go I-129 N. through Cleveland .  Keep straight on 129 N.  School will be approximately 3 miles North of the Square.
WhiteCo. High School (Alternative Route 1) – Go north on 129 toward Cleveland.  After you cross the White Co. line, you will see Friendship Baptist Church.  At the light, take a left on Westmoreland Road.  This deadends into 284.  Go right.  Go less than 1 mile to right on Hwy. 115.    Go approximately 5 miles and turn left onto Tesnatee Gap Valley Road.  This deadends on Hwy. 129 in front of White Co. Highway. 2600 Highway 129 N.    
WhiteCo. High School (Alternative Route 2) – Go north on 129 toward Cleveland for approximately 13 miles.  Go left on Hwy. 284 into Clermont.  When you come to the stop sign, go straight.  Go approximately ¼ mile and take a slight left onto GA. 115.  Go 5 miles, then turn left onto Tesnatee Gap Valley Road.  Go to the end of Tesnatee Gap Valley Road.  High School is right across the street. 2600 Highway 129 N.

The Gainesville City Board of Education will have a regular board meeting on Monday, December 12, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. at the School Board Office.  The board agenda is located on the district website under School Board Governance and will be available for the public to view on Friday at 4:00 p.m.

Northeast Georgia History Center will have their DecemberFamily Dayon Sunday, Dec. 11 from 12:30 – 4:00 pm.  The theme is Christmas Traditions, Cherish the Old, Embrace the New. Joyce Rucker will be retiring at the end of this semester. She has faithfully served the Gainesville City School System for over 18 years as the Parent Coordinator and a School Social Worker. Please join us as we celebrate her many years of dedicated service at her retirement reception on Tuesday, December 13 at the GMS Library from 3:30-5:30 pm.
 
Voluntary conditioning for girls’ high school soccer is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school. They will have tryouts on January 23rd.
 
Please consider joining the Gainesville Booster Club.  The Booster Club provided approximately $10,000 in funds last school year to the GCSS classrooms and sports that were not sanctioned by GHSA.  The membership drive is the sole source of fundraising for the club. The Hall County Quilt Guild is sponsoring the 2012 Chicken Festival Quilt Show Contest for students grades 5-12.  The Show will be April 28 at the Georgia Mountain Center.  Students are encouraged to create a quilt wall hanging 20 inches by 20 inches.  The quilt must represent the quilter as a chicken.  For ex., a quilter who is a bus driver makes her quilt of a chicken driving a school bus or a student makes his/her quilt pertaining to school.  There will be prizes given to each age group and to the viewer’s choice.  The deadline is April 1, 2012.  For more information or questions contact:  Judy Wangemann @ 770-534-5861 or jartwang@yahoo.com.
 
Gainesville City Schools contributed greatly to the success of Christmas On Green Street.  The Enota Show Choir, the Gainesville High School Crimson Chorus, the Gainesville Middle School Band, and the Gainesville Middle Chorus all performed and made us proud.  What a wonderful way to start the Christmas season.  Gainesville is a great place to live.
 
The Fair Street Fifth Grade Chorus performed a concert at the Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia, a Fair Street Partner in Education.  They did a remarkable job and were heard by several dignitaries, Carl Rogers- Georgia House of Representative for District 26 and Gov. Nathan Deal.
 
GHS 9th grader Rachel Cottrell entered a drawing in the Torrence Legacy for Gifted Students Art Contests last spring. She has been informed that she placed 2nd in the 9th - 12th graders division. Quite an honor since this was an international competition and Rachel's drawing was judged with the 9-12 graders instead of the 8th graders division! !
 
The GHS Debate Team participated in a Debate Tournament at Johnson High School.  Participants wereKatherine Jones, Kole Wheeler, Anthony Divinagracia, Daphne Young, and Abbi LeeperKatherine placed 4th in original oratory and Kole placed 4th in Student Congress.
 
The Times Athlete of the Week Honor Roll:
 
Shaquan Cantrell-  24 points and five rebounds in an 80-47 win over North Oconee.
 
GHS graduate A.J. Johnson, who is now a University of Tennessee linebacker, was named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team. He recorded 80 tackles, including 11 against No. 1 LSU and 13 against #2 Alabama.
