The registration centers are now closed, but will re-open on Monday, July 30th.

Registration hours will be from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, M-F. 

All interested UPCOMING 6th-8th grade girls that are interested in playing SOFTBALL during the fall of 2012 for Gainesville Middle School needs to attend a PLAYER and PARENT meeting on Monday, May 21st at 6pm in the New Gym at GAINESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL.  We will introduce our new head coach, discuss summer and fall workouts.  Please make every effort to attend.  This will be the last meeting prior to summer workouts starting.  If you have any questions or are unable to attend the meeting please email gainesvillesoftball1@gmail.com

Youth Volleyball

The Junior Elephant Volleyball Camp for rising 3rd-5th grade girls will be held from 10am to noon on June 25th-29th at Gainesville High School. The cost is $75 per child and an additional $55 if sending more than one per family. The focus of this camp will be to introduce the fundamentals of volleyball and to promote positive & competitive play. Please email Coach Randi Orr at randi.orr@gcssk12.net for registration forms. The deadline is June 15th.

SAVE THE DATE:  The Athletic Club’s Third Annual Stomp and Chomp will be on Saturday, September 8th at the Gainesville Civic Center.  The first two year’s contribution to the Gainesville City sports programs has been around $50,000.  Over 250 people attended the event both of the first two years.  If anyone is interested in buying a table or donating an item for the live or silent auction, please contact Kris Nordholz at knordholz@fullmedia.com.

Gainesville High School Head Baseball Coach Jeremy Kemp and the GHS Baseball Staff invite you to join them this summer for their Annual Youth Summer Baseball Camp at Ivey Watson Baseball Field.
Designed to teach the fundamentals of baseball, this fun filled camp will enable all players to improve core baseball skills and prepare for the next level.
Ages 5-14
Get a jump on the competition by coming and learning the fundamentals of baseball with Coach Jeremy Kemp from Gainesville High School.  Hitting, pitching, fielding base running, and catching will be covered.  Campers need to bring glove, bat, water bottle, and a small snack. 
Space will be limited so register as early as possible.

GHS Red Elephant Soccer Camp (Ages 7-13)

The GHS Red Elephant Soccer Camp is open for all boys and girls of all ability levels ages 7 to 13. The focus of the camp will be to improve the player's technical ability, tactical decisions, and physical ability though different fun activities and games. Campers will be placed in an age appropriate group and follow this daily schedule:

9:00 to 9:45: Warm up and individual technical/skill work
10:00 to 11:00: Age/ability Appropriate Training with coaches working on the Topic of the Day
11:15 to 12:00: Games

All instruction will be conducted by coaches who coach for Gainesville High School, other high schools, or club level coaches and assisted by former GHS Players.

*ALL Campers will receive a camp t-shirt. Please bring a snack and water bottle to camp each day. A signed Liability Waiver is REQUIRED for participation.

Mandatory Gainesville High School Softball Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 8th at 4pm in the New Gym for ANY upcoming 9th-12th grade girls interested in playing softball.  Please see or email Coach Green if you cannot attend.  gainesvillesoftball1@gmail.com
Gainesville Softball Camp will be held June 18-21 from 9am-12pm.  Register through Gainesville Park and Rec.
Gainesville Softball will hold summer workouts for middle school and high school aged girls during the months of June and July.  Please email Coach Green (gainesvillesoftball1@gmail.com) for additional information.

Message from Pam Ware: We need more teen agers for HELLO DOLLY, the Park & Rec Summer Theatre offering, who can sing and dance. Contact Gainesville Park and Rec. (770-531-2680), if interested. The rehearsals are on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6-9 PM the month of June.  July 4th week is off and back with dress rehearsals and performances the week of July 8-14th.

June 10  1-4 Family Day Southern-style Olympics, 1996 and Now featuring a tribute to the Summer Olympics of 1996
                    through memorabilia and other artifacts.  Visitors may 
                    create their own History Center Olympics Memorabilia. 
                    Admission is free courtesy of North Georgia Eye Clinic.
June 11-15*, 18-22*, and 25-19** 9:30-2:30 daily:    History Center Summer Camps, Our Appalachian Heritage.  Campers will explore the Appalachian heritage of Northeast Georgia, through hands-on activities and demonstrations including hearth and Dutch oven cooking, braiding a rag rug, soap-carving, rolling and de-barking logs, hunting and trapping, mountain music, mapping, and much more.  Space is limited to 20 campers per session.  Camps during the weeks of June 11-15* and June 18-22* are designed for students entering 5th, 6th, or 7th grades in fall 2012 and the camp during the week of June 25-29** is designed for students entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grades in fall 2012.  Space is available.  For age guidelines and costs, contact:  Julie Carson at 770-297-5900 or jcarson@brenau.edu

The GHS Crimson Chorus received scores of 96 & 93 (Superior ratings) at High Note Festival this past weekend in Marietta.  This is the 6th straight year of receiving a Superior rating in performance at High Note.  Julia Hamiltonis the director.

GHS soccer coaches Rick Howard and Mark Wade
were announced as the Region 8 AAA boys and girls soccer Coaches of the Year respectively. 
Gainesville High School Senior, Khalil Larkin, has been named one of 16 recipients of the first Colored Rocks Prize. The Prize is awarded to senior male students from diverse ethnic backgrounds throughout Georgia for their achievements and commitment to helping increase the graduation rates of other male students of color. LaCrisia Larkin, acting GHS principal, is his proud mom.

KatyMarie Clements
competed at the Junior Olympic National Gymnastics Championships in Virginia, placing 6th all-around!!!  She will continue to train 25+ hours per week throughout the summer.  Congratulations to KatyMarie, another great example of the Big Red Elephant Spirit!  Her mom is Wendy Clements at Centennial.
GHS seniors Parks and Carson Brown were both named to the Georgia High School Golf Coaches’ Association’s Senior All-Star Team.  Both will represent the North Team in the three-day match play format.

GHS student Kelsey Kirkpatrick received a scholarship to study Chinese for two weeks at Kennesaw State University. The scholarship is from the Federal funds that covers tuition, materials, food and lodging.
