This unit on color is designed to teach you about how artists use color, how color can express ideas and feelings, and about various color schemes. A color scheme is a certain system or arrangement of colors that is used in a design.

  1. Correctly identify various color groups and color schemes
  2. Apply new skills and knowledge to create an original work of art incorporating a color scheme of your choosing.

  • Identify primary, secondary, and intermediate, or tertiary colors.
  • Identify analogous colors in a design.
  • Identify and use complementary colors.
  • Identify and use warm & cool colors.
  • Identify neutral colors.
  • Identify and use monochromatic colors.
  • Identify and use tints and shades.
  • Identify the meaning of hue and intensity
  • Choose a color scheme and create an original work of art in a studio activity.
