The Community School Initiative

The Community School initiative at Fair Street involves program partnerships with other community agencies.  The goal of the Community School is to increase opportunities for our students by bringing programs into the school. Partnerships include the Gainesville Hall County Boys and Girls Club, Gainesville Park and Recreation, YMCA, and the Girl and Boy Scouts. The Model Safe Playground and the Fair Street Community Park are results of this effort.  Our students use Fair Street Pool for swimming instruction.  A full-time School Resource Officer, provided with a City of Gainesville Police grant, supports a disciplined and orderly learning environment.

Fair Street School is the site for Brenau University College of Education’s Professional Development School.   Brenau students receive methods instruction at our site and apply their skills in our classrooms. Students at Fair Street benefit from increased individualized instruction.

Fair Street is the site for PROJECT DOVE, a drop-out and violence prevention program.  This includes the “2nd Step Program”, a conflict resolution and violence intervention program.  This is in partnership with Georgia State University
.
