School Council Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 16th, 2007
(5:30 in Principal’s Conference Room at GHS)
I. Call to order and approval of minutes.
II. Member of School Council in attendance: Mr. Kemp – Principal, Kathy Kelley, Haydee Anderson, Chris Hicks, George Hokayem, Sheryl Williams
III. Motion to accept the minutes from November 20th – Motion to accept minutes and approved.
IV. Copy of Power Point regarding the various High School Academies distributed to council members. Further discussion of academies at GHS as outlined on copy of academy materials provided. (see copy of power point)
A. Academies will include about 400 students each. All academies will provide accelerated courses. Students can switch academies; more of a control of enabling students taking the core curriculum at the required semester and year. Some courses will lap over academies because some strands work together – ex. Computer Applications. Goal is to have a plan of study for every student.
B. Designated administrator and counselor for each academy.
C. Organizational sequence and high end vocational!
