Team North Wins the 3rd Annual North-South Challenge 12 1/2 to 11 1/2

     Gainesville High School, along with Vidalia High School, hosts the "North-South Challenge" each February at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Georgia.

     Six teams from North Georgia and six teams South Georgia played to determine which region of the state will earn bragging rights as the best golf teams. The South won the inaugural contest 14-4, and won the 2006 North-South Challenge by one-half of one point.

     The format is interesting, yet unique to high school golf.  The North-South Challenge is a two-man best ball match play format.  Two-man teams from the North will play two-man teams from the South, with each match worth one point.  It should be noted that no two team members will be paired together (for example: no two Gainesville High golfers shall make up a two-man best ball team).  This unique format encourages "competitive camaraderie" among some of the best talent in the Southeast.
