Middle School is a time of transition. Students at this age are unique in their physical, academic, emotional, and spiritual needs. Earth Quest Academy teachers recognize this. Middle School is a great place to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. Sixth graders entering EarthQuest Academy are helped through the transition from the elementary classroom to the movement between many classes and teachers. Along with the required subjects of English, math, science, and social studies, students take Spanish, physical education, health, character education, art and music. Study and organizational skills are taught and reinforced in sixth grade in preparation for the increased academic load of seventh and eighth grade. Earth Quest Academy is a program of interdisciplinary teaching on the aspects of ecology. This program of choice focuses on environmental awareness and encourages students to become responsible stewards of local ecosystems while considering the impact of an individual’s actions on global ecology. Earth Quest is structured to challenge students to utilize their critical thinking skills to examine and analyze both local and global issues in order to develop a clear understanding that they can make a difference in the future of our planet.
