The
middle school level of education, grades 6, 7 and 8, is a critical
transitional period of intellectual, emotional, and physical development
for students. At Gainesville Middle School, we believe it is essential for
parents and teachers to work together to successfully address the unique
academic and social needs of these students in transition to successful
members of our community.

Our
curriculum has been specifically developed to meet the students' changing
needs. Curricular experiences have been planned to include emphasis
on mastery of basic skills, expansion of creative and critical thinking
skills, a continued exposure to technology, and increased opportunities
for exploratory experiences. In addition, emphasis is given to the
development of positive self-image, self-motivation, and continuous
self-improvement.
We
continue to recognize and support the needs of our students, aiding
students to understand their own intellectual, social and emotional
growth. We teach skills that help students make responsible decisions and
provide specific opportunities to apply those skills. Our overall purpose
is to meet the educational, developmental and social needs that emerge
during this transitional period – because we are. . . Committed
to Excellence ! Audrey
