GAINESVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL
The health class is a combined study of the knowledge needed to help students lead a happy, safe, and healthy life. Students will work both individually and in assigned groups to complete projects, class work, and other assigned activities.
The course curriculum in 6th grade health covers: Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs; Disease Prevention with reference to HIV/AIDS, abstinence, sexually transmitted diseases; Family Living which includes self concept, persuasion, refusal skills and decision making; Growth and Development; Mental Health; Nutrition; Personal Hygiene; and Safety.
Grading for this 9-week quarter will be as follows:
Homework = 20%
Test/ Projects= 50%
Daily = 30% ( journal, class work, participation)
Please be aware inappropriate behavior is not tolerated!!!!!!!!!!!
Consequences are as follows:
1st offense - warning
2nd offense- time out, call parent
3rd offense- administrative referral
