The Gainesville City School System’s Board of Education believes that disruptive students should be reassigned to isolated, individually oriented in-school suspension programs. The purposes of the in-school suspension program are to:

Procedures for classroom management of disruptive students:
If a student continuously disrupts instruction and it becomes necessary to remove the student temporarily from the classroom [where the student has not responded well to behavior intervention(s)], the teacher will notify the appropriate administrator or front office that a need for an administrator or the SRO exists.
“Time-out” is assigned only by an administrator and it may last only until the end of the regular class period. Time-out is completed in the ISS trailor.
Administrative personnel are to contact parent/guardian at the end of the school day concerning assignment to “Time-out”. If phone contact cannot be made, a letter should be sent to the parent’s home. The administrator may also attempt to contact the parent or guardian
