Coach Adrian A. Cromwell

 

8th Grade Boys Basketball, GMS Step Team

& GMS Boys Track

 

            Adrian Cromwell comes to GMS from Greenwood, Mississippi.  He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1996, where he played one year of varsity basketball and 3 years of tennis.  He earned a Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education from Delta State University, and he recently earned a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.  Coach Cromwell has coached basketball at Gainesville Middle School for 6 years; one year as the 7th grade boys’ coach and the remaining five as the 8th grade boys’ coach.

 

Coach Cromwell enters his 7th season of coaching middle school basketball.  The team posted an amazing 14-5 record last year making it to the championship game of the 8th Grade Hall County Tournament for the second consecutive year and earning the 2nd place trophy.  The team participated in the Buford Tip-Off Tournament earlier in the season, and they were crowned tournament champs.  Coach Cromwell has a career win-loss record of 51-34.

           

Along with basketball, Coach Cromwell is the founder and one of the coaches of the elite GMS Step Team.  After a rocky first year, the GMS Step Team blossomed, being recognized as second best middle school step team in the state of Georgia during the 2004-2005 season.  They’ve also been recognized as one of the top contending teams in the metro-Atlanta area.  After a season off, the GMS Step Team returned earning 3rd place at the All Star Metro Atlanta Step Competition.  Over a span of four seasons, the GMS Step Team has earned 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies at 13 of 16 step competitions.  A new addition to Coach Cromwell’s resume is Boys Track.  He will enter his second season as the head coach.

           

            During his first five years, Mr. Cromwell taught 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Health, Physical Education, and Character Education.  Mr. Cromwell hopes to transition from teaching into educational leadership very soon.  Last year he led Gainesville Middle School’s newly implemented Credit Recovery Program as the instructor and coach, and the program was very successful helping over 50% of the students earn promotion and credit for middle school classes.  Mr. Cromwell has led the GMS Summer School Program, as team leader, the past two years, he has completed three administrative internships at GMS, and he is now the lead teacher at Gainesville Learning Academy.

 

            Adrian is a recent newly wed to local native of Gainesville, Patricia Drake, a graduate of East Hall High School.  Adrian made Gainesville home his first five years in Georgia, but now resides in Commerce.

 

GAINESVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL

BOYS’ BASKETBALL PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT PLAN

 

I.                   Goal to Improve Image

A.     The primary objective, in enhancing the image of Gainesville Middle School Boys’ Basketball, is to create a positive training atmosphere that equally promotes the maximum development of each student-athlete’s basketball skills and the growth of each student’s character.  It is the hope of the GMS Boys’ Program that this goal’s effective implementation will be a bright reflection for other schools to admire.

 

II.                Action Plan to Improve Goals

A.     The action plan to improve goals includes the following steps:

1.      Basketball goals for the year written by the student-athlete.

2.      Areas of improvement in basketball, for student-athlete, written by the student-athlete.

3.      Expectations of coach written by the student-athlete.

4.      Good sportsmanship before and after games.

 

III.             How will you measure these goals?

A.     The goals will measure implementing the following steps:

1.      Assessment of basketball long-term goals with athlete.

2.      Assessment of improved skilled areas with athlete.

3.      Self-evaluation of expectations of coach.

4.      Observatory evaluation of sportsmanship before & after games.

 

IV.              Goals to Improve Performance

A.     The primary objective, in improving the performance of each student-athlete in the GMS Boys’ Program is developing the fundamental skills of each player at the highest level for self-improvement and competitive play.

 

V.                 Action Plan to Improve Performance

A.     The action plan to improve performance includes the following steps:

1.      Individual practice time for players when needed or desired.

2.      Special scrimmages against other teams for team improvement.

3.      Special practices for individual skill improvement.

 

VI.              How will you measure these goals?

A.     The goals will be measure implementing the following steps:

1.      Observation evaluations with corrections during practice.

2.      Observation evaluations with corrections during games.
