Sam Wallace is entering his 5th year coaching football at GMS. As Offensive Coordinator his teams have won a Hall County Championship in 2006, averaged scoring 35 points a game, and have posted a 14-4 record over the past three seasons.
Offensively, GMS is the only middle school in Georgia who runs the true, high octane spread offense. Coach Wallace has been tutored in the intricacies of the spread by none other than the University of Auburn’s Offensive Coordinator Tony Franklin.
Prior to coaching at GMS, Wallace was the Offensive Coordinator for the 13-year-old Sawnee Mountain Panthers in the Forsyth County Park and Recreation League. His Panther teams won back-to-back Lanier Bowl Championships in 2002 and 2003.
In the spring of 2006, Wallace carried out duties as Offensive Coordinator in Gainesville Middle School’s inaugural leap into the National Football League’s Junior Player Development Camp. His Gainesville squad won the Heavy Weight Championship (Teryan Rucker- MVP) which was held at West Hall High School. GMS hosted the summer NFL Junior Player Development camp and Wallace again orchestrated the offense. The team traveled to Carrollton, Ga. to culminate a week of fun and football to play teams from around the state of Georgia. GMS was able to go 3-0-1 in the tournament by beating Marietta Middle, Columbus Middle, Wheeler Middle and tying Stephenson Middle.
Wallace played quarterback at Redan High School in Stone Mountain where he graduated in 1990. A three year letterman and two year starter for the perennial state playoff contender Class AAAA Raiders, Wallace played his high high school ball under the legendary Bill Cloer.
Wallace attended the University of Georgia and was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Phi National Champion Intramural Flag Football team in 1994. He is married to the former Leigh Livingston and lives in Gainesville.
