DAR Good Citizen Award
Gainesville High School senior Kingsley Owusu Otoo has been selected as the 2018 2018 Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Award recipient for the school district based upon exhibiting outstanding service, leadership, and patriotism and will represent the school district as he competes for the Hall County DAR award.
GHS Governor's Honors Nominees
Fifteen students from Gainesville High School were chosen as nominees for the 2018 Governor's Honors Program representing the school district. The nominees include: Mary Kate McCall, Emmaline Dye, Amy Nguyen, Marisa Woo, Isabella Scarlett, Corey, Jenrette, Ta Uyen, Robert Enriquez, Caleb Anderson, Rishi Patel, Page Thompson, Natasha Alcazar, Abigail Griffin, Imeyrani Islas, and Caleigh Casper.

SISU SPARK AWARD FINALIST
Loretta King, GCSS School Bus Driver, was selected as a finalist for the SiSu SPARK Community Award by Sisu, Integrated Early Learning for her dedication to serving the needs of GCSS SPED Preschool students. Ms. King is a dedicated driver who nurtures students through her generosity, kind spirit, and caring heart.
FAIR STREET HEROES
Karen McCusker and Tequila Mattox are the "Heroes" for Fair Street International Academy. These outstanding individuals are always challenging and preparing Fair Street students to be the best that they can be both inside and outside of the classroom.
Golden Radish Award
Gainesville City School System earned Platinum recognition by state officials at the 2018 Golden Radish Awards ceremony. The Golden Radish Award publicly recognizes Georgia school districts for best practices in farm to school programs, such as local food procurement, exposing students to new foods through taste tests, and incorporating gardening and cooking activities in curriculum. The district's School Nutrition Program received this honorable recognition for its outstanding work in farm to school initiatives.
