Media Center Mission and Purpose
Purpose:
Enota’s media center provides a range of learning opportunities for both large and small groups and for individuals. The focus is on improving the learning process, with emphasis on intellectual content, inquiry, and the learner. Learners are encouraged to read, view, listen, construct, and create in order to learn in their own way. The center program is a cooperative venture in which the media specialist, teachers, and administrators work together to provide opportunities for the social, cultural, and educational growth of all students. |
Programs:
-
Reading Promotions: The media center promotes literacy through various genre and book promotions.
-
Birthday Club: parents may remember their child’s birthday with the purchase of a book for the media center. Permanent bookplates are placed inside each book with the name and birthday of the honored student. Birthday parties are held twice yearly.
-
RIF(Reading Is Fundamental) is a grant Enota receives in which each student receives three free books yearly.
-
The Media Center promotes Read Across America in March in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. NEA sponsors this in hopes that every child in America will read a book on that day.
-
Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl-a team of fourth and fifth grade high-level readers participates by reading the Georgia Book Award storybook nominee books and competes in a state bowl.
-
The media center provides two book fairs yearly.
-
Information Literacy: The media center follows state and national guidelines in designing and implementing a program that teaches information literacy while supporting the state-mandated standards.
