Enota's Mission

Mission
The Mission of the Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy is to contribute to the quality of our future through providing diversified learning for our students, partnership with our community and excellence in our staff, faculty and administration.

Vision
Enota is a school of diverse individuals who are developing all of their intelligences to the highest degree. It is a school with a warm and inviting atmosphere where the focus is on the learners and learning.

We, the staff and students, will learn, live and work harmoniously with mutual respect without compromising individual belief and identities.

Our vision encompasses a commitment to excellence. These expectations will be met through:

• Developing high achieving, well-rounded, and successful students, citizens, and life-long learners
• Providing a holistic and child-centered program that promotes student confidence and excitement for learning
• Reaching all of the intelligences within our children by utilizing innovative and progressive strategies
• Being a model school presenting opportunities for our students to achieve their full potential

Our Beliefs

• All students can learn. Student learning is the primary focus impacting all decisions made.
• Students demonstrate understanding of essential knowledge and skills by being actively engaged in meaningful context and producing quality work.
• Students learn in different ways. Curriculum and instructional practices incorporate a variety of learning activities to accommodate multiple intelligences.
• Students learn best when provided with appropriate opportunities for success and challenging expectations to increase their performance.
• Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, cultural, emotional, and intellectual needs.
• Teachers, administrators, parents, and the community share the responsibility of making a positive impact on the learning process.
• A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.

The Multiple Intelligences (MI) Curriculum at Enota is built around the belief that every child can be successful. Our curriculum is a course of study that leads to literacy, inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking. All students will be provided with the opportunity to expand and apply skills in a variety of ways. Our shared vision is to empower students to become independent readers and thinkers. We encourage both written and spoken communication that will lead to higher levels of comprehension and performance.

We believe that each child is a unique individual who learns in his or her own way. Therefore, the curriculum at Enota is taught by incorporating activities based on the Multiple Intelligences research of Howard Gardner, professor at Harvard University. The eight basic intelligences as identified by Gardner are:

Logical – Mathematical: Uses inductive and deductive logic, numeration, and abstract
patterns; problem solver.

Visual – Spatial: Depends on visual and proximity thinking; thinks in images.

Bodily – Kinesthetic: Involves physical movement and knowledge of the body.

Verbal – Linguistic: Focuses on thinking on language, both aural and symbolic.

Naturalist - Recognizes and classifies plants, animals, and minerals including a mastery of taxonomies.

Musical – Rhythmic: Responds to acoustic patterns, sounds, rhythms, and tempo.

Interpersonal – Oriented toward social or group relationships; affectively
communicative.

Intrapersonal – Identifies with intuition and introspection; self-knowledge (not
necessarily introverted)

The faculty at Enota is committed to this curriculum. We celebrate the diversity of our students and our goal is to meet the needs of each child. We work as a team to increase student learning and success.

Some of the extra-curricular activities that may be offered at Enota are:
Art, Dance, Drama, Poetry, Literary Publications, Photography, Quilting, Chemistry for Kids, Engineering, Simple Machines using Legos, Rocket Science, Instrumental Music, Scouting, Technology, and Gardening.
