Hello! I am so happy that you are here! I want to welcome you to the media center. At New Holland Core Knowledge Academy, the media center is a place for exploration and adventure through reading. I want to encourage you to visit the media center to check out the latest books, displays, and of course--to hear a great story. I look forward to seeing you!

Our mission: To encourage literacy and support the school's curriculum. Most of all, our goal is to spark a passion in every child for reading. The love of reading opens the door to a vast amount of knowledge and life-long learning.


Attention all teachers: Please be sure to stop by the media center and schedule a time for your class to learn and enjoy story time. I am also happy to come to your classroom and do book talks on specific books that enrich the standard you may be teaching. I am here to help, encourage, and support you. I am SO proud of each of you! You have been READING and are doing very well! It has been such a joy seeing all your smiling faces in the media center. I LOVE reading to you and teaching you how to take great care of your library books and use the Dewey Decimal System. Please remember to always READ, READ, READ!! You CAN and WILL succeed!

UPCOMING EVENTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE WEEKS TO COME:

Our next RIF day is December 15th. This will also be the date of our yearly celebration for Rock and Read. As always, this will be a day of fun and excitement. Please see the media center's wiki for more details.

On Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 8:30 a.m., the media center will be hosting the New Holland Spelling Bee for grades 3-5.

On Tuesday, January 24, 2012, New Holland will be having a visit by Ronald McDonald. He will be conducting an assembly on the importance of giving back to the community and the positive impact we can have by serving others, showing respect, being kind, and doing our best to learn and achieve.

On Thursday, February 23rd, 2012, Lee Bryan "The Puppet Guy" will be here at New Holland to put on an exciting educational puppet program.
