The Gainesville City School System School Nutrition Program (SNP) strives to provide excellent service in the GCSS cafeterias. There are many things that make our nutrition program wonderful and unique. SNP provides breakfast to ALL students FREE of charge. For lunch, GCSS SNP strives to offer a nutritious and filling meal to every student. Each breakfast and lunch contains healthy proteins, whole grains, fruits (fresh or chilled), two (2) vegetable choices (lunch only), and milk. This combination provides students with fuel for learning and nutrients to help keep them healthy. The SNP staff are trained and work hard to prepare foods in healthy ways that are in compliance with health safety standards. To make our selections healthy, SNP maintains that all food is baked or steamed - never fried, either batched cooked or commercially prepared for school nutrition, fresh or frozen when affordable, thus reducing the sodium.
