Senior Parent Meeting March 22, 2012 Minutes
Parent and Student Responsibilities Prior to Graduation:
Ø Parents may order announcements from www.gabalfour.com.
Ø Students must clear all debts with Mrs. Hughs in the second floor office.
Ø Students and parents should periodically check the Senior Hotspot on the GHS website for information.
Ø Parents should sign up to serve on various graduation committees: Baccalaureate Committee, Stage Decorations Committee, Aisle Decorations Committee, Lobby Decorations Committee, Floral Committee, Party Committee, Faculty Breakfast Committee.
Ø Parents and students should see Mrs. Conti with questions and concerns. christi.conti@gcssk12.net
Ø Students must adhere to all rules and regulations as outlined in the behavior contract they signed in August.
Ø Purchase clothing to wear to graduation:
Ø Girls- white dresses and white shoes
Ø Boys- white collared shirt, tie, dark slacks, and dark dress shoes
Responsibilities the Week of Graduation:
Ø Students must attend the mandatory graduation practice in the New Gym on Wednesday, May 16 at 9 a.m. Students will not walk if they do not practice.
Ø Practice for the optional baccalaureate service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 17 at First Baptist Church.
Ø An optional baccalaureate service will be held at First Baptist Church on Green Street on Thursday, May 17 at 8:00 p.m.
Ø Students must arrive at 6:45 p.m. for class picture and line-up for the baccalaureate service. Baccalaureate Committee will assist with line up.
Ø Remind friends and family that no posters or signs, air horns, cow bells, noise devices, balloons, strollers, camera tripods, etc. are permitted in the New Gym during the graduation ceremony.
Ø Decide which relatives will receive a ticket and which relatives will view the ceremony from the PAC.
Responsibilities the Day of Graduation:
Ø Students must attend the mandatory graduation practice in the New Gym on Friday, May 18.
Ø Parent committees decorate for graduation.
Ø Tickets will be distributed after practice. Eight tickets per graduate. Everyone, including infants, must have a ticket.
Ø Remind friends and family to hold applause until every name has been called. Do not bring posters or signs, air horns, cow bells, noise devices, balloons, strollers, camera tripods, etc.
Ø Students must arrive at school at 6:45 p.m. for the graduation line-up.
Graduation Overflow Information:
Ø Friends and family without graduation tickets are invited to view a live streaming video feed of the graduation ceremony in the Performing Arts Center.
Ø Seating is limited (350 seats), and is available on a first come, first served basis.
Ø Guests with small children are encouraged to sit in the PAC.
Ø No food, drink, or gum allowed in the PAC.
Ø Graduation programs will be available in the PAC.

Responsabilidades de los padres y estudiantes antes de la graduación: Los padres pueden:

Las Responsabilidades para la Semana de graduación:
1. Es obligatorio que todos los estudiantes graduandos asistan a la práctica de graduación en el nuevo gimnasio para la práctica, el miércoles 16 de mayo a las 9:am Los estudiantes no podrán caminar si no practican.
2. Práctica para el servicio de la misa se llevará a cabo a las 9:am el jueves, 17 de mayo en la Primera Iglesia Bautista.
3. Un servicio de la misa es opcional se llevará a cabo en la Primera Iglesia Bautista en Green Street el jueves, 17 de mayo en 8:00pm.
4. Los estudiantes deben llegar a las 6:45 pm para la fotografia de clase y alínearse para el servicio o misa. Comité encargado de la misa ayudará con la línea.
5. Recuerdenles a sus amigos y familiares que no se permiten carteles, cornetas de aire, cencerros, los dispositivos de ruido, los globos, los cochecitos, los trípodes de cámara, etc se permiten en el nuevo gimnasio durante la ceremonia de graduación.
6. Decide quien de los familiares recibirán un boleto y quien de los familiares van a ver la ceremonia de entrega en el tiatro PAC.
Responsabilidad para el día de graduación:
1. obligatorio que los estudiantes asistan a la práctica de la graduación en el nuevo gimnasio el viernes, 18 de mayo.
2. El comités de padres que voluntariaron para decorar el dia de la graduación.
3. Boletos de entrada se distribuirá o entregan a los estudiantes después de la práctica. Ocho Boletos de entrada por graduado. Todos, incluyendo a los niños, deben tener un boleto.

A meeting for all parents of GHS seniors will be held in the Media Center at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22. We will discuss graduation, baccalaureate, and other senior activities. All senior parents are encouraged to attend.

All seniors are required to attend a homeroom senior meeting on Thursday, February 16 to obtain important graduation information.

All seniors MUST attend the two graduation practices held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16 and Friday, May 18. Students will not walk if they do not practice.

Attention those who have earned a Gainesville letter in a club or sport:
Balfour, our official jacket supplier, will be at Gainesville on Monday, September 26th and Tuesday, September 27th during all lunches. You will need a $100 deposit to place your letter jacket order. Class of 2011 Important Dates

Senior Pictures: Cap and gown pictures April 20 during your lunch in the New Gym (photographer will provide cap and gown)

Final exams for seniors: May 11 and 12

Caps and gowns can be picked up May 11, 12, and 13 in the second floor office—all debts must be paid to receive cap and gown
Mandatory graduation practices: May 18 and 20, 9:00 a.m., New Gym
*Graduation tickets will be distributed after practice on May 20. Students will receive 8 tickets each.
Optional baccalaureate practice: May 19, 9:00 a.m., First Baptist Church, Gainesville

*Students need to meet at 7:00 p.m in front of the PAC. Students wear caps and gowns. Girls wear white dresses and white shoes; boys wear dark shoes and dark pants.
Graduation parking: The upper parking lot is reserved for seniors only. The New Gym lot is reserved for elderly and handicapped guests. Families and friends need to park in the overflow lot at the Lakeshore Mall. Busses will transport family and friends from the mall to the New Gym. Doors open for guests at 7:00 p.m.

Examenes finales para los estudiantes graduandos son estos dias: 11 y 12 de mayo.
El ultimo dia de escuela para los estudiantes graduandos es el: 13 de mayo.
Practica mandatoria para los estudiantes graduandos: 18 y 20 de mayo a las 9:00 a.m. en el gym nuevo.
*Los tiketes para la graduacion se les entregaran despues de la practica el 20 de mayo. Cada estudiante recivira 8 tikete solamente.
Es opcion si gustan solamente partisipar en la practica para la misa: 19 de mayo a las 9:am. En la iglesia primera Bautista en Gainesville.
Servisio misa: 19 de mayo a las 8:pm.de la noche En la iglesia Bautista primera en Gaineville
*Los estudiantes usaran su capa y el sombrero. Las damas usaran un vestido blanco y zapatos blanco;
y los cabayeros zapatos y pantalon oscuros.
Seremonia de Graduacion: 20 de mayo 8:pm de la noche, Gym nuevo.
*Los estudiantes graduando se unen todo a las 7:pm en frente de PAC. Los estudiantes tienen que usar su capa y sombrero de graduacion. Las damitas usaran un vestidoblanco y zapatos blanco. Los cabayeros usaran zapatos y pantalon oscuro.
