PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN(S): PUBLIC SCHOOL CHOICE
AND SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICE (Free Tutoring)

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
 
The Department of Education and your local school are working hard to provide programs to help all students succeed. These efforts include implementing the No Child Left Behind Act.  This law supports parent(s)/legal guardian(s) and schools working together to raise student achievement.
 
As part of our efforts to improve student achievement and implement No Child Left Behind, your child will be eligible to receive Supplemental Educational Services (SES), which is free tutoring provided by State approved providers.  Parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of students who qualify to receive free or reduced price meals are eligible for SES.  Also, priority will be given to those eligible children with the lowest CRCT test scores in math and English/Language Arts.
 
If you are interested in SES for your child, please attend the SES Provider Fair Wednesday, August 31^st from 6:00PM – 7:00 PM in the Gainesville Middle School Media Center.  At the meeting each state approved provider will supply you with a short description of their program to assist you in making a choice to provide services for your child. The school system will reimburse the provider for the services your child receives, up to the maximum allowed by law.  A list of state approved providers is attached and may be accessed through the Georgia Department of Education Web site, www.doe.k12.ga.us.

Please remember that the school must receive the SES form by Tuesday, September 20, 2011.  This gives you over 20 calendar days to request services.
 
Attached to this letter is a “Request for Services” form to fill out asking you for your top 3 choices on service providers. If you are unable to attend the SES Provider Fair, you may return the form and receive free tutoring by:
 

• Coming to GainesvilleMiddle School by09/20/11, between8:00-4:00 to complete the necessary forms;
• Completing the attached forms and return them to Donna Allen by U.S. mail at 1581 Community WayGainesville, GA 30501 no later than 09/20/11;
• Completing the attached forms and return them to Donna Allen by email atdonna.allen@gcssk12.net no later than 09/20/11; or
• Completing the attached forms and return them to Donna Allen by fax at770-287-2022 no later than 09/20/11..

• GCSS has only one middle school and that is the school that your child is currently attending.
• GCSS has attempted to enter into a Cooperative Agreement with the following districts; Hall County, however, at this time Hall County Schoolsare unable to accept students as transfers.
• GCSS will offer Free Tutoring (SES) to all eligible students since Public School Choice is not an available option.  

• GCSS solamente tiene una escuela intermedia y esa es la escuela que su niño esta asistiendo actualmente.
