Some of you may have noticed several ninth grade students wearing shirts that say “Got SPEED?”. This is a chapter of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), funded by the Governors Office of Highway Safety. The team members wanted a more positive name for themselves; thus S.P.E.E.D.
 
They have been working hard on two campaigns that will be conducted before the end of school.  We wanted you to be aware of these upcoming projects.
 
They are as follows:
 

• Put It Down to launch on Monday, April 18

            This campaign will highlight the newly passed law restricting cell phone usage for Georgians that specifically prohibits teens from any cell phone usage while driving if they are under the age of 18.
 
 

• Seat Belt Safety to launch on Monday, May 2

            This campaign is to remind students how important it is to use their seatbelts and to make sure they know of the newly passed law requiring seat belt usage in trucks.
