Registration for 2025-2026

Gainesville School District is pleased to offer programs of choice in grades K-8. Students are assigned to schools based on their residential addresses but may apply to attend other Gainesville City School District schools as a part of the district’s school choice program. The Gainesville City School Board of Education reserves the right to establish enrollment limits in all grades, classes, and/or programs. Therefore, there must be space available within the established cap amount for each grade level for the selected
choice to be honored. Priority for classroom space will be provided to all City of Gainesville resident students first.
Pre-K Lottery Sign Up and Lottery Drawing for 2025-2026
Sign up for the Pre-K Lottery February 3 - February 14, 2025, at the GCSS Downtown Office located at 332 Washington Street, Gainesville, GA. (**YOU MUST BE A CITY RESIDENT) The lottery drawing for all Pre-K slots will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Parents will be notified by the school if their child is selected, and will be given instructions on getting their child enrolled into Pre-K.
Kindergarten Enrollment for 2025-2026
Newly enrolling for the first time in GCSS for kindergarten should register online January 13 - 24, 2025. . (**YOU MUST BE A CITY RESIDENT.) In order to participate in Choice Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year, your online registration must be completed and received by January 24, 2025. Any choice enrollment requests after
January 24, 2025, will be based on enrollment, and must be approved. To begin, go to www.gcssk12.net. Click the Student Registration and Enrollment Tab and select the New Student Registration link. Parents should upload the following documents into the GCSS online application: birth certificate, immunization form #3231, ears, eyes and dental certificate #3300, social security card (if available), and 2 proofs of residency documents which include one of the following: current lease/mortgage/purchase agreement, current warranty or quit claim deed, current paycheck stub/IRS Form 1099, current homeowner’s insurance policy AND a copy of a current (within 30 days) utility (gas, water, electric, cable/internet bill with service address), and photo ID of parent/guardian. Please note that beginning the 2025-2026 school year, transportation will no longer be provided outside of your school attendance zone. If you are approved for choice enrollment outside of your school attendance zone, you will have to provide transportation to and from school.

Currently Enrolled City Residents in Grades PK-7
Choice Enrollment forms will go home with currently enrolled pre-kindergarten through 7th grade students on Monday, January 13, 2025. Information about your child’s assigned school attendance zone will be printed on the letter. Parents should complete and return choice enrollment forms to the schools by Friday, January 24, 2025.
2025-2026 Newly Enrolling City Resident Students in Grades 1-11
Newly enrolling for the first time in GCSS (Grades 1-11) should register online January 13-24, 2025. To participate in Choice Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year, your online registration must be completed and received by January 24, 2025. Any choice enrollment requests after January 24, 2025, will be based on enrollment, and must be approved.

2025-2026 Currently Enrolled Non-Residents
Individuals wishing to continue enrollment in Gainesville City Schools as a Non-Resident student must complete the Non-Resident Application at the school in which your child is enrolled. The school will send home a Non-Resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement to each currently enrolled non-resident on February 3, 2025. Forms must be returned by February 14, 2025.
2025-2026 Newly Enrolling Non-Residents
Newly enrolling non-residents for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year should complete the Non-Resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement in person at the GCSS Downtown Office located at 332 Washington Street, Gainesville, GA, February 3 – May 11, 2025. Your non-resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement must be approved prior to starting the online registration. No action will be taken on your online registration until your Non-Resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement is approved. Parents should attach the following documents to the Non-Resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement: School transcript for middle and high school aged students, current report card for elementary or middle school aged students, and all grades must include Attendance and Behavior Records. Acceptance or denial letters will be mailed beginning March 3, 2025. DO NOT WITHDRAW YOUR CHILD FROM THEIR CURRENT SCHOOL UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED.
