2023-2024 School Enrollment Dates Announced
Choice Enrollment, Pre-K, and Kindergarten

Gainesville, GA Friday, January 9, 2023 - Gainesville City Schools announces enrollment for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year will begin in January. The system will continue to offer school choice enrollment with transportation services provided for all students within the students assigned cluster ONLY. To identify what cluster, you live in visit www.gcssk12.net/students-parents/attendancezone.  The Gainesville City Board of Education reserves the right to establish enrollment limits in all grades, classes, and/or programs. Priority for classroom space will be provided to all City of Gainesville resident students first. If space is available within the established cap amount for each grade level non-resident tuition students will be considered.

Pre-K Lottery Sign Up and Lottery Drawing for 2023-2024 (**YOU MUST BE A CITY RESIDENT)

Sign up for the Pre-K Lottery for children turning 4 years old by September 1st will take place January 30 - February 10, 2023. Pre-K is for city residents only and is not offered for out of district families.

To register parents must visit the GCSS School Board Office located at 508 Oak Street Gainesville, GA to complete the registration form in person. The lottery drawing for all Pre-K slots will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Parents will be notified by the school if their child’s name is drawn in the lottery. The school will provide enrollment instruction for Pre-K at that time.

Kindergarten Enrollment for 2023-2024

Kindergarten enrollment for children turning 5 years old by September 1st begins January 17-27, 2023. All students enrolling for the first time in GCSS (for Kindergarten) may register online. In order to participate in Choice Enrollment (enrollment outside of your attendance zone) for the 2023-2024 school year, your online registration must be completed and received by January 27, 2023.  Any choice enrollment requests after January 27, 2023 will based on enrollment, and must be approved. Currently Enrolled City Residents in Grades PK-7

Choice Enrollment forms will come home with currently enrolled pre-kindergarten through 7th grade students on Friday, January 13, 2023. Information about your child’s assigned cluster will be printed on the letter. Parents should complete and return choice enrollment forms to the school by Friday, January 27, 2023. Students who are currently enrolled in Pre-K and 5th grade must attach two (2) updated proofs of residency to the school choice form which include one of the following: current lease/mortgage/purchase agreement, current warranty or quit claim deed, current paycheck  stub/IRS Form 1099, current homeowner’s insurance policy AND a copy of a current (within 30 days) utility (gas, water,  electric, cable/internet bill with service address), and photo ID of parent/guardian.

2023-2024 Newly Enrolling City Resident Students in Grades 1-11

Newly enrolling for the first time in GCSS (Grades 1-11) should register online January 17-27, 2023. In order to participate in Choice Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year, your online registration must be completed and received by January 27, 2023.  Any choice enrollment requests after January 27, 2023 will based on enrollment, and must be approved. 2023-2024 Currently Enrolled Non-Residents

Individuals wishing to continue enrollment in Gainesville City Schools as a Non-Resident student must complete the Non-Resident Application at individual schools. The school will send home a Non-Resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement to each currently enrolled non-resident on February 1, 2023. Forms must be returned by February 17, 2023.

2023-2024 Newly Enrolling Non-Residents

Newly enrolling non-residents for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year should complete the Non-Resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement in person at the Gainesville City School Board Office located at 508 Oak Street, Gainesville, GA February 1 –

May 12, 2023. Your non-resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement must be approved prior to starting the online registration. No action will be taken on your online registration until your Non-Resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement is approved.

Parents should attach the following documents to the Non-Resident Tuition/Contract of Agreement: School transcript for high school aged students, current report card for elementary or middle school aged students, Attendance and Behavior Records. Acceptance or denial letters will be mailed beginning February 24, 2023. Parents are not to withdraw the student from their current school until acceptance has been processed.
